Paper Pesto at SENZ

May 25, 2007

Hi everyone,

Here’s a few pictures of our stand at SENZ. Kate and I are manning the stand with a few ring-ins, and my heart sunk when I read her comments in the earlier blog about being shy. I’m even worse, despite my advanced years, but I think she’s doing a great job. I’ve been standing back in awe watching Kate “show off” our kits to the public. It’s tiring, but it must also be exhausting getting around all the stands for the shoppers. Wish we could join them, but it’s been lovely meeting some familiar names on the stand. Hope to see you there.

Marni TelfordMy name is Marni Telford and I am 26. I currently live in Eimeo which is in the Northern Beaches area of Mackay in Queensland with my husband and our two dogs. I am a primary school teacher by trade and love my job but am so passionate about scrapbooking that it’s kind of taken over my life….in a good way though. I have been scrapping now for 4 years and don’t quite remember when it became part of my everyday life but now I can surely say that it is ingrained in my existence and I would not have it any other way. I am truly a scrapper for arts sake. I love the fact that I can do something beautiful with my photos but most of all I love the creativity that pours out of me when I scrap……truth being said I love the process a whole lot more than the final product. I have been published in all of the Australian magazines and won the For Keeps A-Z competition in 2006. I am currently a part of the inspiration team at Aussie Dares and look forward to the journey ahead with all the Paper Pesto girls.

Michelle Perry

“I’m a mum to 2 young boys, and I have been scrapping for 5 years. I started after the birth of my first son, and quickly became obsessed! I’ve had my layouts published in all Aussie Scrapbooking Magazines, and I run the Aussie Pub Calls Web site”.

Celeste Vermeed

Scrapbooking has brought me lots of joy and in more ways than I could have imagined when I bought my first patterned papers! At the time, I had no idea what scrapbooking was, but knew I wanted to create a special album to commemorate the twins time spent in hospital.

Three and half years later, I have my own room in which to create, I am published in magazines, I have a network of scrapping friends, I am a much better photographer, I have a divine digital SLR camera, I am a member of two design teams and I actually have deadlines – for layouts!!

I live and create in a little country town in Victoria called Buninyong, The town is at the foot of a little mountain and I love it! Running my life is my three darling daughters, Hallie, Jemma and Grace. Supporting my life is my darling husband Rod! They obviously are the main sources of inspiration in my scrapping.

The talent that surrounds me on the Paper Pesto Design team is amazing and I am looking forward to getting to know and work with you all!

Dione Evans

I have been addicted to scrapbooking since the first day I tried it about 4 years ago! I have always been creative and I get to bring all of that to my art and I just love that! I am nearly 40, live in Hamilton, work full time on a website and have a degree in Counselling. I am a single parent of 4 quirky and interesting children which makes for lots of photos for scrapping! My eldest is 17, then there are the twins at 15 and my youngest and only son is 11. It is partly because of their ages that I am able to scrapbook as often as I like – usually several days a week. My most common output are 12X12 pages but I have done many mini albums and canvasses too. I have only taught a couple of classes but I really enjoy that. I often complete 5-10 pages a week and don’t bother putting them into albums any longer. My art has really progressed in the last 4 months since I began participating in challenges and competitions online. This has stretched me and encouraged me to try different styles and I have just loved that! I am about to have my first pages published and am so excited about Paper Pesto – and not just because pesto is my favourite food!!

Thanks girls for telling us a little about yourselves!

Kate.

Here’s the next installment

Christi Nelson

My name is Christi and I live north of Auckland, NZ. I’m American and have lived in New Zealand for nearly 7 years. I’ve not been back home in those 7 years either but September will see all that change when I head back for 3 1/2 months! YAY! I married my kiwi husband, Hugh, in 2001 and we now have two absolutely gorgeous daughters, Kamryn and Lauryn. I’ve been scrapbooking for 4 years now and it’s been a steady long progression to get here. I finally feel comfortable in my scrapbooking and achieved my goal of getting on a design team late last year. I have been published in Up2Scrap a number of times and still submit hoping to get more published. Being on the Paper Pesto design team is going to be so awesome and working strictly with kits will be fun. It’s something I haven’t done before so I am looking forward to this. I am glad to be on this team and feel we will all make a wonderful contribution to these lovely kits. I hope to create works of art that will inspire those looking for inspiration! Thanks for having me 😉

Ann McLachlan

Hello, I’m Ann McLachlan and I live just north of Auckland at Wainui. I’m married to Malcolm and Mum to Josh (15), Stephanie (12) and Caitlyn (6).

I started scrapbooking about 4 1/2 years ago and even though I have always done some sort of craft, I realised pretty quickly that I had found something that I really enjoy and that would allow me to have an ever changing creative outlet. I am at my happiest when I’m in my scrapping room putting together a layout or making cards.

The best part of being involved in this art form is getting to know
other people. I have made some life long friends through scrapbooking.

But what really matters to me the most is the look on my childrens faces when I have finished a layout, if they are happy with what I have created for them, then it is all worthwhile.

I work part time for a commercial grower and when I’m not scrapbooking I like to spend time reading.
I am honoured to be part of the first Paper Pesto Design Team and look forward to this opportunity.

Hannah Blair

I am married to Rob. We have 2 wonderful little boys, Ethan (who is 5 at the end of this month) and Tyler (who is 2 1/2). Most of my inspiration for scrapping comes from these 2 little guys, as I’m sure you’ll see!

“I have been scrapbooking for about 2 1/2 years and I have to say it is a hobby that I have really gotten stuck into. I’ve dabbled in a few different crafts over the years, but once I started scrapbooking I realised this was MY thing. I do it mainly because I enjoy it, and because it is a creative outlet for me. Preserving family memories is just a bonus, as far as I’m concerned. Basically I just love creating, and I love the satisfaction of seeing a layout come together from just a few ideas in my head to a finished “work of art”.
I’m thrilled to have been chosen for the Paper Pesto Design Team, and look forward to working with great products and gaining inspiration from the other ladies in the team!”

Kelly Slattery

I am proud wife to Wayne & a SAHM to Taiga (pronounced “tiger”) & Raven & have been scrapbooking since September 2005.

In 2006 I fell in love with challenges & completed over 120 pages, this year I have almost reached that mark already :o)

Fortunately my whole family loves my work, so I am able to spread my passion for scrapping across my 9 nieces and nephews as well.

I am thrilled & thankful for the opportunity to be part of the maiden Paper Pesto Design Team & look forward to working with this great team of talented scrappers.

Introducing the design team properly.

May 16, 2007

Ok, so I’m supposed to be letting Steph handle the blog until after we move house but Dave has gone out to catch up with a friend and really who wants to pack boxes alone??!! Plus I miss you guys…

So the design team members all sent me a little bit about themselves which I thought I would share with you so you feel like you know them all a bit better. I will post four a night for the next 3 nights. Just to give you a little extra reading on top of the competitions and sneak peaks going on at Paper Pesto at the moment.

Sharon Manning

I live in the Swan Valley, a semi-rural area on the outskirts of Perth, Western Australia on a 7.5acre bush block in Bullsbrook. I have been married for 17 years to Steve and have 2 gorgeous girls Renae 14 and Gemma 12 who are the subject of many of my layouts and projects that I do.

I have been scrapping for about 3 years now and absolutely love what I do and have my own studio set up at home. I also do commissioned Memory Albums for clients incorporating personal memorabilia to tell a life story. I was chosen for the 2006 Scrapworks design team along with Kerrin Quall from Australia and have been published several times in Scrapbook Creations and For Keeps. I have also been a freelance Tutor here in Perth teaching at several of the Scrapbooking shops around the city and also at a weekend retreat in the country which I am about to do for the third time.

I am looking forward to being an integral part of the Paper Pesto design team in the coming months and feel very honoured to have been chosen.

Danielle Quarmby

I’m a 26 year old photographer and mother of two – my daughter Sienna is 3 and son Ash is coming up to 2 years old. My husband Ben is a programmer, and we live in the Dandenong Ranges in Melbourne. I’ve been scrapping for about 4 years, but have always been creative, pursuing hobbies such as painting and stationery design. Am super happy to have been invited to join Paper Pesto – I love kits and challenging my creativity!

Nikala O’Brien

Hi I’m Nikala, I live in Brisbane, Australia with my husband Jason and my two children – Harrison 6 and Charlotte 3 1/2. I began scrapbooking almost 3 years ago and have been truly addicted ever since. I’m continuously inspired by all the gorgeous new product available and my photography. This addictive yet therapeutic hobby has allowed me to capture, record and document the lives of my children and family and what they mean to me. I have also intoduced scrapbooking into my children’s photography business – as a wonderful creative way that they can display the images I’ve captured for them. I’m not sure exactly what style my layouts display – but I tend to focus on the photo and make it the main focal point while using little patterned paper in the process and concentrating more on typography and embellishments. I am extremely excited about joining the Paper Pesto Design Team and am looking forward to the challenge and to meeting all the ladies involved.

Ilka Adam

Heya, I am Ilka and live with my man Rainer and my son Chris (17) in Waiuku.

My love affair with scrapping and scrapbooking supplies started 3 years ago.
To me scrapping is art with a small a. Art about all the little things that
make my life so big.

It’s wonderful to share this passion with others and I am constantly amazed
by the fabulous talent and diversity of my fellow scrappers.

Thats all for now folks, more tomorrow night.

Kate.

P.s thanks so much for everyone’s kind wishes. My family and I are feeling so much better already!
