Smile – Dione Evans

December 31, 2007

This is a photo of Dione’s two lovely girls having just had their braces off. Certainly a reason to smile and celebrate!

She has stamped her title with paint and highlighted the bottom of the page by using part of the shaped making memories paper.

Full kit contents coming tomorrow!

Have a great week everyone and enjoy this beautiful weather we are having!

xx Kate.

True Friends – Dione Evans

December 30, 2007

In this layout Dione has used just a small piece of the scalloped bazzill to pull in your focus to the photograph and slightly lift it from the rest of the page. She has also used plenty of elements from the Fancy Pants die-cut sheet for both her journaling and to embellish one particular corner of the photo which also helps draw in the eye.

Layton and Steph – Dione Evans

December 29, 2007

Here is the first layout for January’s kit from Dione, I just love how she has combined different textures for her flower embellishments using velvety blossoms, chipboard, paper die-cuts and even the outside edging of the die-cuts. I would never have thought of that but it’s a great way to use something you would normally throw away. She has also sanded the edges of her photograph to suit the roughed up acid-washed Basic Grey background¬† paper.

Dione has done lots of beautiful work for us with this kit and I will be bringing you more of it in the days to come. The “Painted Summer” kit used here will be up and available on the website from the 1st of Jan.

We hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas and are enjoying this slightly more relaxed time of year now that it is over!

Best wishes to you and your families for the holiday break,

xx Kate, Steph and Fi.

Child’s Christmas Angel

December 21, 2007

When Laura was a new entrant she came home with the following Christmas ornament from school.

On the back was the following verse:

This little angel is special you see;

Because she is a part of me.

Her wings are my hands,

Her body my feet,

And on the tree she’ll look very sweet.

And yes, those are her feet making up the body of the angel and her hands providing the template for the wings.

In subsequent years Laura has made her own angels (we missed a year unfortunately). This year she didn’t want to make one – too busy playing “The Simpsons” on Playstation (cool game). So I made one instead. Here are Laura’s and my efforts:

I don’t care they’re not the most stylish and professional looking ornaments – I just love seeing how Laura’s grown at a glance. They may be my most precious decorations.

Did I know that Holly is PRICKLY?

December 20, 2007

That’s what my darling said when he returned from the “mission” to cut some of the neighbour’s holly for me. UHH DUH, yes I did, that’s way I asked him to cut some for me. He makes me laugh every day and we have been together for 16 years.

The base for the wreath is a cane heart shape I got from the $2 shop. I wrapped red tulle around it, then attached the holly with florist wire ( thanks for the wire Steph). The little balls that you see are also from the $2 shop. The sweet red birds were a Christmas garland from a gift shop. I cut them to the lengths that I wanted and attached them with wire.

I love Greenery at Christmas

December 19, 2007

It feels like Christmas when our house smells of pine, and the stockings are hung. But this year I decided to make some other Christmas things. So I cut some ivy and twisted it around a Christmas tree candle holder that I bought from Spotlight. To help secure the ivy I used little gold and silver balls that are on wire. These were from the $2 Shop.

I had some left over ivy so I twisted it into a circle and tied a bow onto it. And I then used some of the little balls and a bird to decorate it.

Joy tag

December 18, 2007

I thought I would do a Christmas tag. So “joy” is the word. I love the joy of Christmas morning, when the children wake up really early – last Christmas it was four o’clock. I don’t mind the early start because I’m a morning person. They can barely open their eyes, but they stumble upstairs. Then they see all the presents under the tree and that Santa has come and their stockings are full. They are suddenly awake and buzzing with the joy of Christmas. Just love it.

Enjoy the joy of Christmas.

Leila has also shared with us her latest tag creations. She must a have wonderful collection by now, one that she can easily flip through for inspiration and ideas.
